Introducing the team- Gordito and Santos

Dec 20, 2021 | The Majestic Crossing Team

Gordito-

I grew up in Veracruz, Mexico, and came to the US on a visa to pick tobacco in Kentucky. I met some friends that encouraged me to come to Wisconsin and they helped me find my job here at Majestic Crossing.

Before I came here, I had never worked with cows and I learned everything I know here at the farm over the last 6 years. Today my job here on the farm is to take care of the cows as a herdsman. I really enjoy working with the cows and taking care of their health. I don’t have family here but the team I work with here at the farm is more than just coworkers, we are friends. I know I can count on them and they know they can count on me and that is my favorite thing about my job.

Everyone jokes around with me because I am always running around and working hard. I put lots of energy into my work here. I am grateful for the opportunities I have here on the farm to continue to grow and learn and one day, God willing, I hope to take on a higher management role.

Santos-

I am originally Tamaulipas, Mexico, and have been working here at Majestic Crossing for about 10 years. I grew up milking cows by hand so working with the technology that we have on the farm is interesting to me.

Right now I work at our parlor farm but I hope to move to working with the milking robots one day. My main job is to take care of the cows that have recently had a calf. I really enjoy learning new ways to take care of the cows. I also really like working with our crossbred cows. Holsteins aren’t as hearty or as strong as crossbred cows.

I really fell in love with Wisconsin when I came here. I like the winter. I like working with Darin. He’s the boss here but he’s humble. I really don’t think of him as my boss, he’s my friend. The people I work with here are my friends. That’s my favorite part about working here.
