Family Affair

May 10, 2016 | Dairy News

Farming is a family affair for us at Majestic Crossing Dairy. In 1998, I came back to the dairy and partnered with my dad. Then, in 2001, my brother Darin came back to the farm. Over the years, we’ve really found our balance in working together.

Historically, I was always a cow man. I lived and breathed cows. As Majestic Crossing Dairy has grown, I found that I was getting more involved with other parts of the farm. Today, I work more on the finances and cropping. My brother Darin is more involved with the cows and people that care for the cows.

As time goes on, we have to stay aware of where we can improve. My brother and I both have our own strengths, but we’re only successful if we find a balance. And it certainly isn’t only us – we need all of the employees and their strengths as well. Working with animals, understanding the soil, good practice with manure management… We are really lucky to have great team members who have these strengths.

Having such a great balance between me and my brother is great, but when it moves throughout the entire dairy – that is when we become successful.
