June Dairy Month: Time to Share

Jun 3, 2013 | Dairy News

It’s June Dairy Month – time for the annual Breakfast on the Farm events that happen all across Wisconsin. Here at Majestic Crossing, we help support our local Sheboygan County Farm Breakfast, this year our county host is Strack-View Farms, LLC. The breakfast is on Saturday June 15th. Wayne, one of my partners, is on the local county dairy promotion committee. That means he’ll be working with a team to cook the breakfast. These events serve hundreds of people, so that’s a lot of milk, eggs, and pancakes. It’s amazing how they cook for such a big crowd.

As for me, I really enjoy hosting tours. It’s so important to invite people to come out to the barns and see how we do things. Sometimes farming gets hard, and you ask yourself why we do what we do. Then, at events like this, you see people having fun, enjoying themselves and asking questions. When the community can see what goes into farming, they have such a great appreciation for it. And nowadays, people really want to see where their food comes from.

I’ve been a tour guide for the past several years. At the end of the day, after a Breakfast on the Farm, I always think to myself “That was well worth my time.”
