The other day, we were hauling manure to fertilize the fields, and I looked over and saw a Bald eagle less than 50 feet away from me. It was just pecking at the ground, but being so close gives you an idea of the size of this bird. It was amazing. I wanted to stop, but I knew if I did, the eagle would fly away. So I just went on, but I appreciated that moment.
You can be working and thinking, “Wow, it’s such a long day.” Or you can stop for a few seconds and look at what surrounds you. People travel up north to see the leaves and the colors changing, but at our farm, the trees are all around us. And they’re changing a little more every day.
Up top of one of our fields, there’s a ridge of trees. In the winter, they’re bare and lonely. But now, the leaves are in full color. It’s beautiful.
Life offers things to us. It’s up to us to notice and enjoy those moments.
