The Season to be Thankful

Nov 24, 2016 | Dairy News

It’s the end of November which means two things: the bulk of the fieldwork is relatively behind us and Thanksgiving.

This year at Majestic Crossing, we have a lot to be thankful for. We had a really good growing season. Like with anything, it wasn’t without its challenges, but overall it was one of our best years ever for crop yields. We’re very thankful and very blessed that Mother Nature provided us with such a bountiful harvest. As always, there are some things we can’t control, like the price of the crops, so we’re really glad that Mother Nature was on our side this year.

This year for Thanksgiving, I’m hoping to watch some football with my family. I’m still “on call;” if something goes wrong on the farm it becomes the top priority. It’s always a good thing when the phone doesn’t ring!

With holidays, we get a little bit more time with our families, but we have to stay aware that something could go wrong. Last Saturday the power went out for a few hours – that could have easily happened on Thanksgiving. Even though we would have had to work, the power company would also have had to work on the holiday. There are a lot of jobs in the world like that, and farming is one of them.

We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, from all of us at Majestic Crossing Dairy.
