A couple weeks ago, the weather pleasantly turned warmer for a few days, but winter has been slow to release. When we get a couple of warm days like that, everyone on the farm thinks, “Let’s get going!” We’re anxiously awaiting the days when we can get into the fields, but in the meantime we’re working on equipment and getting everything shipshape.
Our agronomy experts are doing soil testing now. It’s important to constantly analyze the soil so that we can balance the fertilizer and manure to exactly what the soil needs. This helps us grow healthy crops, and keeps our soil, water and air healthy.
It’s hard to believe, with last week’s snow, that we could be planting in just a couple of weeks. But the days are getting longer and things change quickly this time of year. We are ready.
