There’s been a lot of excitement around the farm, with our new digester being put in. But Mother Nature just keeps doing what she does, and so far it’s been working out. We’ve had good moisture, and two nice crops of hay already. We’ll be getting a third cutting this week, and the wheat harvest looks like it will be a good crop too.
It’s been a good growing year, but we need a little bit of heat. Corn grows on heat units, and we need a sustained period of heat to keep it ripening and growing.
Barring any catastrophic weather, things are looking good. Of course we’re farmers, so we’re always worried about hail, a big storm or even a tornado damaging our crops. The worrying doesn’t do any good, so we keep plugging away. You just never know.
Until the harvest, bring on the heat. Happy summer, everyone.
